Manchmal hat Musik auch ohne Worte mehr Seele als mit 1001 Worte. Hier eine Auswahl aus meine Instrumental Sammlung: Eple von Röyskopp ist ein Hip-Hop Track der mich lange begelitete, Paul Kalkbrenner schaft es banalen Tönen eine Seele einzuflössen, Leftfiled mit Strom 3000 war einer meiner ersten Breakbeat Tracks und Atmospheric Beats von Kerri Chandler bachte mich vom Jazz zum House. Jedes Stück hat für mich eine Geschichte und damit eine Seele die ich nicht missen möchte.
“Sunny” is the name of a song written by Bobby Hebb. It is one of the most covered popular songs, with hundreds of versions released. BMI rates “Sunny” number 25 in its “Top 100 songs of the century”.
Hebb wrote the song after 22 November 1963, the day after U.S. President John F. Kennedy was assassinated and Hebb’s older brother Harold was killed in a knife fight outside a Nashville nightclub. Hebb was devastated by both events and many critics say that those events inspired the tune. Others claims Bobby wrote the song for God. Certainly, events influenced Bobby’s songwriting, but his timeless melody, crossing over into R&B (#3 on U.S. R&B chart) Country and Pop (#2 on U.S. Pop chart), together with the optimistic lyrics, came from the artist’s desire to express that one should always “look at the bright side” – a direct quote from the author. Hebb has said about “Sunny”:
“All my intentions were just to think of happier times – basically looking for a brighter day – because times were at a low tide. After I wrote it, I thought “Sunny” just might be a different approach to what Johnny Bragg was talking about in ‘Just Walkin’ in the Rain’”.
Berlin Calling ist ein Film des deutschen Regisseurs Hannes Stöhr, der in der Szene der elektronischen Musik spielt. Die Hauptrolle spielt der als Live-Act und Produzent bekannte Paul Kalkbrenner. Dies hat mich zu dem ‘April Calling’ Mix inspiriert: neben der Hymmne des Films ‘Sky And Sand’ von Paul Kalbrenner himself fand ich noch ein paar andere tanzbare Deep-/Tech-House Tracks. Peter Kruder needs no introduction. He had a massive influence on dance-music and is one of the most progressing artists. Together with his partner Richard Dorfmeister they remixed people like Depeche Mode, Madonna and many more. Their K&D Sessions is still one of the most relevant Albums of the 90′s. Nowadays he produces for people like DJ Hell and is also releasing his own Techno adventures on labels like Macro, Compost Black or Gigolo. Another of his projects is “Peace Orchestra” for their own G-Stone label.
Ich liebe Swing, schon als Kind hat mich die Musik in den Filmen mit Fred Astair und Ginger Rogers zum mitwippen gebracht. Hier nun ein Mix von Originalen wie Peggy Lee, Django Reinhardt und Louis Prima, Remixen oder Reedits mit Fred Astair und Dean Martin gemacht von Club des Belugas, Waldeck, Parov Stelar und Der Dritte Raum.
